Dig Haunted Items Shovel and Sprayer Tier List
Rank the tools that actually raise Forbidden odds and clean speed.
Your shovel is the only luck stat you carry into the haunted forest. Your sprayer is the only speed stat you carry back to the plot. Everything else in Dig Haunted Items — museum tiles, coffins, fog machines — is downstream of those two tools. This board ranks upgrade stages because JSK Games still iterates Shop names after the August 6, 2026 launch. When a blade name stays put for a week, we will pin it here with a gold cost.
Compare this page with the Tier List Hub, the relic board, and the upgrade planner before you empty the Day 7 chest on a decorative fence.
S — First real shovel and late luck blades
The moment the tutorial shovel feels slow, buy the first paid shovel that lists a luck or power increase. That jump is the largest gold-per-hour spike in the game. Late blades that explicitly raise rare or Forbidden chance are also S. You feel them on every dirt pile, not just on the one sparkle you walked past.
If two S shovels are on the shelf, pick the one with luck over raw swing speed. A fast D-tier swing that only rolls Commons is a cardio workout. A slightly slower S swing that can roll Forbidden pays the museum rent.
A — Mid shovels and fast sprayers
Mid-tier shovels sit here. They are worth buying if you already own S-0 (the first paid blade) and you are not yet close to the next luck breakpoint. Fast sprayers are A even on day one. Cleaning a muddy stone golem with the starter bottle is the hidden time sink. Instant-clean codes are A-tier too, when they exist, because they act like a temporary S sprayer.
Do not skip the bottle to afford a flashy plot. A dirty relic cannot go on a stand and cannot go through the Haunting Table until the mud is gone. Read how to clean so you are not wasting spray on already-clean keepers.
B — Sidegrades and “looks cool” tools
Shop rows that add a little power and a lot of cosmetics belong in B. Buy them only if you already have an S shovel, an A sprayer, and three paying museum stands. A B-tier shovel can still finish how to dig routes; it just should not be the thing you spend a luck timer on.
C — Starter shovel after the tutorial
Keep the tutorial shovel in the backpack as a backup. It is C the second you own anything better, D if you are still swinging it in the deep forest. Using it after you have gold in the pocket is how players stall before Index 50%.
D — Pure vanity tools
If a Shop item does not change dig luck, swing time, or spray time, it is D for progression. Hang it on the plot after the museum prints gold on its own. The museum guide explains which stands actually attract visitors; a glowing shovel skin does not.
Pairing shovel and sprayer
Think in pairs:
- S shovel + A sprayer = default farm kit.
- S shovel + starter sprayer = you will drown in muddy relics.
- Starter shovel + S sprayer = you clean junk quickly and stay poor.
Always upgrade the weaker half of the pair. The upgrade planner exists so you do not have to guess.
When to stop buying shovels
Stop when the next blade costs more than a full museum wing and does not list a luck increase. Put that gold into plot size or Haunting Table uses. A bigger museum multiplies every relic you already own; a tiny luck bump on a maxed blade might not.
Online co-op does not share shovel stats. Your friend can carry an S blade next to your C starter and you will still roll Commons. Spend your own gold.
Session checklist
- Claim daily rewards.
- Equip the highest non-vanity shovel you own.
- Equip the fastest sprayer.
- Dig a forest circuit, then clean and haunt keepers.
- Revisit Shop only if you hit a listed breakpoint, not after every Common mouse.
If a new named shovel appears after a patch, we will slot it into S–D using the same luck-then-speed rule. Until then, buy power, not paint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the best shovel on day one?
The first paid luck or power shovel after the tutorial blade. See the S-tier notes above and the upgrade planner.
Should I upgrade sprayer or shovel first?
Shovel if you still swing the starter. Sprayer if muddy relics are backing up. Pair them using this list.
Do luck codes replace a good shovel?
No. A timer helps an S blade. It will not save a D starter. Check codes.
Where do relics rank?
On the relic tier list and curse and rarity boards.
